General capacity tests
These tests are the most familiar and also most widely used. A general ability test is used to assess your intellectual capacities and your abilities. It does not test your acquired knowledge.
Features:
-
You have a certain amount of time within which to complete a number of assignments.
-
The test takes into account your answering behaviour.
-
Results are compared to those of a certain norm group (same level of education, age, gender, language, etc.).
Different types:
-
Verbal intelligence test:
Test your verbal reasoning ability. Language plays a part in this, yet the test does not merely measure your knowledge of languages.
-
Numerical intelligence test:
Test your numerical reasoning ability. This test assesses the extent to which you can make logical connections between numbers and how fluently and accurately you do this. Calculation plays a part in this but the test does not merely measure your calculating abilities.
-
Spatial awareness test:
Test your inductive reasoning ability. This test uses drawings and figures to measure your intelligence. It reduces the verbal aspect as much as possible.
